On the 21st July 2013, Singapore celebrated Racial Harmony Day to commemorate the 1964 race riots which took place on 21 July 1964. Racial Harmony Day represents a day for schools in Singapore to reflect on and celebrate Singapore`s success as a racially harmonious nation to built a diversity of cultures and heritage.
Students are encouraged to wear traditional costumes such as Baju Kurung, CheongSam, Punjabi and more, not only that but delicious delicacies will be included in the celebration. In Singapore we have mainly Chinese, Malays, Indians and Eurasians living in harmony, with the population of different people of races and religions Singapore has become one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Asia.
Living in Singapore has always been great for me as I get to meet different people from different culture and learn about their history. It is always interesting for us to learn about other people`s religions and backgrounds, we do not only earn more knowledge about them but we too get to know more about them and be close to them. Yes living in a multicultural country can be quite uneasy as you`ll be meeting different people with different language and we might get into fights but we will always find a way to solve our problems and be friends. Over the past years, we have learn to come together and to work and live harmoniously as one big family. We might be different depending on our religions or race but we are the same no matter what size, shape or colour. Let`s continue to live in harmony and appreciate one another ☺
That`s for today, will post again soon ☺☺
